Kayaking in Serre Chevalier

Kayaking is a great way to discover the valley and is known locally as the king of watersports.

 

In Serre Chevalier there is a large choice of areas to kayak from calm flowing rivers to rapid runs, depending on your experience and wishes you can combine these for your perfect kayaking experience. It's a great adrenaline rush and a great chance to check out the valley from the riverside.

 

If you feel like taking things at a calmer pace you can also go on guided tours of the Serre Ponçon lake. During these 2 hour tours you can relax and kayak in a flotilla whilst checking out the breath taking scenery of the High Alps.

 

There is a range of other courses available from half days to full weekends.

Cross-Country Skiing in Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier itself has 35 km of cross country skiing tracks running up and down the valley. From skating to classic style there is a path for you.

 

If you drive 10 minutes to the Valley of La Clarée you will find 80 km of marked trails for cross-country skiing in unique woodlands.


There is also 30 km of marked trails for snowshoeing and a floodlit cross-countryskiing loop.

Snowboarding in Serre Chevallier

There is 250km of great on piste runs in Serre Chevalier. As well as loads of off piste, bowls, gullies and tree runs.

 

A great place for snowboarders with halfpipes and snow and terrain parks there is plenty to keep you busy.

 

Serre Chevalier also has some great off piste winding through the trees as well as open powder fields.

So whether you are a freerider, freestyler or piste boarder, the Grande Serre Che has loads on offer.

 

Once you have shredded it up in Serre Chevalier the notorious La Grave, the completely off piste/back country resort awaits you only 45 mintues drive from Briançon.

Skiing in Serre Chevallier

The High Alps has 31 ski areas with Serre Chevalier being the largest in the area and the third largest in France with 250 km of pure ski pleasure,
The resort with 13 villages is spread over 4 areas: Briancon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and le Monetier les Bains, at the gates of the Ecrins National Park(which is the largest national park in France). Skiing from altitudes of between 1200 and 2380 metres, for everyone from beginners to expert skiers!

 

The resort is open from December untill late April, the pistes are not too busy and the Serre Chevalier ski resort owns a large snow making network to ensure good ski conditions all season long.

Serre Chevalier is a long valley between the Col du Lautaret and Briançon running along the Guisane river with several villages dotted along the way, ranging from modern to the most traditional. Serre Chevalier offers great alternatives to Alpine Skiing, with a vast array of cross country skiing tracks through beautiful woodland in the local area, sledging parks as well as outside ice skating rinks and an Olympic size ice rink, with an ice hockey team.

 

In Serre Chevalier you can also find huge areas of off-piste skiing for different levels and snow and fun parks.
